Faculty Position in Energy And Thermal Systems

Job description

Tipo de planta académica: Regular Academic Track

Employment: Full time

The School of Engineering at UC Chile, one of the leading engineering academic institutions in Latin America, invites outstanding candidates for a full-time faculty position in the area of Energy and Thermal Systems at the Mechanical Engineering Department. Although this call is initially intended for candidates at the Assistant Professor level, exceptional applications at the Associate Professor level are also welcome.

The position we are offering focuses on the disciplinary aspects of Mechanical Engineering related to Thermal and Energy Systems, ideally from a thermodynamic perspective with a clear relation to energy conversion processes in technological devices. The research developed will be complementary to the energy-related positions that currently exist in the Mechanical Engineering.

Examples of possible topics of interest for this position are (but not limited to) generation and utilization of thermal energy, power generation systems either based fuels or renewable energies, production and use of synthetic fuels, instrumentation and control of thermal systems, renewable energy technologies, introduction of efficient thermal technologies to industrial processes, hybrid systems, and others. The focus of the position is the energy conversion and utilization chain from the study of energy resources, conversion technologies, to the use of thermal energy in industrial processes or other energy utilization applications in society.

Duties: Applicants are expected to conduct high-quality teaching -at both engineering undergraduate and graduate levels- and conduct independent research on one or more of the topics suggested in the previous paragraph. Additional duties include consulting with industry, knowledge transfer, outreach, student counseling and university administrative tasks.
