Senior Lecturer in Civil Engineering

About the position

At the University of Agder, Faculty of Technology and Science there is a vacant 50% position as a university lecturer in construction engineering. The position is linked to the Department of Engineering Science at the Faculty of Technology and Science. The main place of work is currently Campus Grimstad. Accession by agreement with the faculty.

The Department of Engineering Science has approx. 100 employees in scientific and technical positions. The position will be assigned to the professional group for construction. Varied research is being conducted in all the mechatronics, renewable energy, building and industrial economics groups, and we also welcome interdisciplinary projects within the institute or towards other academic environments.

We have a lot of international cooperation, and especially close and good cooperation with companies and public companies in the region, both in research and teaching. The companies contribute with assignments, expertise and resources.

Responsibilities

The position will cover the institute's need for teaching and student guidance in the field of construction engineering, with an emphasis on offshore steel structures. Work experience in the focus area will be emphasized, as well as good contact and knowledge of the Agder region's onshore and offshore industries. Networking towards public and private actors who can contribute to teaching and research will be part of the position.

Necessary qualifications

The criteria for employment are stated in the Regulations on employment and promotion in teaching and research positions.

Documented relevant practical-pedagogical competence on the basis of education or teaching and supervision is required for the position. Applicants who are unable to document such basic competence upon hiring must obtain this within two years, or possibly undergo UiA's course in university pedagogy.

It is expected that the person hired is or aims to become an active researcher, and that he or she will contribute both in ongoing research projects and in defining and establishing new projects. In addition, a good colleague with good collaboration skills is expected to contribute to academic institution-building tasks in collaboration with the other academic environment.

A relevant master's degree or higher in construction engineering is required.

The working language at the University of Agder is Norwegian. Persons hired must be fluent in Norwegian or other Scandinavian languages, in writing and orally. Good English skills are also required.
