The Technical University of Munich (TUM) invites applications for the position of Professor in Electric Power Transmission and Distribution «
Scientific environment
The professorship will be assigned to the TUM Department of Energy and Process Engineering of the TUM School of Engineering and Design and is affiliated with the Integrative Research Institute (IRI) Munich Institute of Integrated Materials, Energy and Process Engineering (MEP).
Responsibilities
- The responsibilities include research and teaching as well as the promotion of early-career scientists. We seek to appoint an expert in the research area of Electric Power Transmission and Distribution with a focus on Power Transmission and Distribution, System Stability, Smart- and Microgrids, Power systems without inertia, sector coupling and flexible loads. Teaching responsibilities include courses in the university’s bachelor and master programs explicitly in the field of power transmission and distribution and grid stability.
Qualifications
- We are looking for candidates who have demonstrated excellent achievements in research and teaching in an internationally recognized scientific environment, relative to the relevant career level (please see www.tum.de/en/faculty-recruiting-faq/ for further information).
- A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification, as well as pedagogical aptitude, are prerequisites. Substantial research experience abroad is expected.
- Either experience in industry or applied research, as well as outstanding knowledge in methods for grid planning and grid operation, are also prerequisites just as the full commitment to do interdisciplinary research, for example in conventional and renewable power generation, power electronics, dynamic systems and control, energy storage and energy economy
