Junior teacher position in Computer Science

We are looking for applications from scholars with a Master degree in Computer Science or Artificial Intelligence and with interest or demonstrated experience in teaching and supervising bachelor students. The ideal candidate is proactive, well-organized, a good planner and team-worker, has affinity with discrete mathematics, programming in C or Python, and preferably has basic knowledge of mathematical logic and SQL.

Key responsibilities

  • Collaboratively teaching 3-4 bachelor courses and organize all administration around them;
  • Contributing to the innovation of course material, including exercises and exams;
  • Supervising bachelor students;
  • Contributing to organizational activities of the Institute.

Selection criteria

  • Master degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence or another closely related field;
  • Demonstrated experience in course assistance in this computer science;
  • Proficiency in English;
  • Team spirit/collaboration attitude strongly preferred.

The Leiden Institute of Advanced Computer Science (LIACS) is the Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science Institute of the Faculty of Science of Leiden University. Terms and conditions

We offer a fixed-term 0.6-0.8 fte lecturer position (docent 4) for 3 years starting as soon as possible. Salary range from € 2,846.- to € 4,490.- gross per month (pay scale 10, for full time appointment), in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities)

The lecturer may start at the appropriate step in scale 10 depending on the number of years of relevant work experience.
