The IRCN babylab seeks to hire a post-doctoral researcher to join our team. Our lab examines the role of the social environment in early human language acquisition. What is the role of different social and communicative cues during the learning process? How does learning change as a function of an infant’s age and environment? We seek to discover and define mechanisms through which social factors and environments influence the early acquisition of speech sounds and words.

The successful applicant will work on a new project aimed at quantifying the social-communicative cues encountered by typically developing Japanese infants in their home environment, and their relationship to language acquisition outcomes. This will involve planning, conducting, and analyzing behavioral/eye-tracking experiments as well as day-long audio recordings.
