Yours Tasks

  • At least 70% of your assignment will be spent on academic research.
  • Perform calibration of numerical geotechnical pile response models, both in 1D and 3D, based on in-situ monitoring data
  • Perform additional cyclic soil element (together with PhD students) on soil samples from the Belgian offshore wind farms
  • Contribute to a methodology that translates in-situ monitoring data into updated design rules for monopile soil-structure interaction
  • Plan scale model test of pile-soil-water interaction

What wr are are looking for

  • You hold a thesis-based doctorate in geotechnics or soil-structure interaction
  • You have a past expertise in structural dynamics, modeling and model updating and wish to apply this to the world of offshore wind energy.
  • Experience with real-world data, programming in python and any prior experience in the field of (offshore) wind energy are advantageous.
  • You like to work in interdisciplinary projects and you have the ability to discuss and communicate your work with people of different backgrounds.
  • You are a motivated person, with a strong curiosity and a genuine wish to learn more and develop your skills and knowledge further in the fields of research, research communication and project management.
  • You take responsibility for the development of your project in a well-structured, thorough way, and you're able to solve problems independently.
  • You are willing to share your prior knowledge with other researchers and guide a doctoral researcher
  • You have an affinity with both the academic and business sectors and you can handle the projects in an expert and timely manner, both independently
  • and in a team;
  • You have an entrepreneurial attitude, are diplomatic and you are result and service oriented
  • You have a relevant (international) network.
  • You have excellent communication skills in English, both orally and written.

What we can offer you

  • We offer you a part-time (50%) contract of indefinite duration with a maximum term of 1 year.
  • Your contract will start on 1/06/2020 at the earliest.
