The Computer Science Department at the IT University of Copenhagen invites applications for one or more faculty positions at the rank of assistant professor or associate professor. T.

Job description

We look to hire strong candidates holding a PhD in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering, or a closely related field.

The candidate is expected to conduct research and research-based teaching in one or more of the department's existing areas, including:

  • Data analytics, databases, data systems, operating systems
  • Human-computer interaction
  • Internet of things, cyber-physical systems, computer networks
  • Optimization, planning, operations research
  • Robotics (software, embodied AI)
  • Software engineering, methods and processes
  • Software test automation, search-based software engineering, tools for continuous SE
  • Studies of computer science education (didactics)
  • Other fields of computer science, such as algorithms, concurrency, information security, programming languages, programming parallel hardware

The ideal candidate should document:

  • Publications of research at a high international level in well-respected peer reviewed venues
  • Competences in developing and conducting teaching that is well received by students
  • A record of contributing to the goals of the institutions in which he / she has worked, for example participation in committees, etc.
  • In addition, candidates for a position as associate professor should be able to:
  • Attract external research funding
  • Supervise PhD students
  • Read / speak a Scandinavian language (or have the willingness to learn Danish)

General information

The IT University of Copenhagen (ITU) is a teaching and research-based tertiary institution concerned with information technology (IT) and the opportunities it offers. The IT University has more than 160 full-time academics. Research and teaching in information technology span all academic activities which involve computers including computer science, information and media sciences, humanities and social sciences, business impact and the commercialization of IT.

The assistant professorship is a temporary fulltime position for up to 4 years with the possibility of extension. The position requires academic qualifications at PhD level.


Appointment and salary will be in accordance with the Ministry of Finance's agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC).
